Preparing Your Yard for Dropp Service

To ensure the most effective and efficient pet waste removal service, a little preparation goes a long way. Follow these guidelines to prepare your yard for Dropp's service, ensuring our technicians can provide the thorough cleaning your yard deserves.

Basic Yard Preparation Steps

1. Secure Your Pets

For the safety of your pets and our technicians:

  • Keep pets indoors or in a secure area during the service window
  • If your pets must remain in the yard, please notify us in advance
  • Ensure aggressive dogs are properly secured away from service areas

2. Provide Access to Your Yard

Our technicians need to access your yard:

  • Ensure gates are unlocked or provide access codes in your account
  • If you have a fence code or garage code, add it to your property details
  • Clear any obstacles blocking gates or entry points
  • Notify us of any special instructions for accessing your yard

3. Clear Major Obstacles

To ensure thorough cleaning:

  • Remove large toys, equipment, or furniture that could conceal waste
  • Move portable items like chairs, grills, or temporary play equipment
  • Secure or put away valuable or fragile yard decorations
  • Don't worry about small items or permanent fixtures - we'll work around them

4. Lawn Maintenance

While not required, these steps help maximize service effectiveness:

  • Mow your lawn before service if the grass is excessively tall (over 6 inches)
  • Clear fallen branches, large leaf piles, or debris that might conceal waste
  • Mark sprinkler heads or fragile plants if you're concerned about them

Special Situations

Weather Preparations

Different weather conditions may require different preparations:

Rainy Conditions:

  • Service continues in light rain
  • No special preparation needed
  • We'll adjust our techniques for wet conditions

Snow or Ice:

  • Mark boundaries of pet relief areas if covered in snow
  • Clear a path to yard access points if possible
  • Note: Deep snow (over 3 inches) may affect service thoroughness

Extreme Heat:

  • Consider scheduling service for morning hours
  • Provide shade access if possible for our technicians

Property Types

Fenced Yards:

  • Ensure gates are functional and unlocked
  • Repair any fence damage that might allow pets to escape
  • Add gate codes to your account if applicable

Unfenced Yards:

  • Clearly mark property boundaries in your account
  • Indicate specific areas where your pets typically relieve themselves
  • Consider using flags or markers to indicate service areas

Apartments or Condos:

  • Ensure management is aware of our service
  • Provide any necessary access codes or passes
  • Inform us of any community restrictions or guidelines

What You Don't Need to Do

To make things easier, you don't need to:

  • Pre-clean your yard before our visit
  • Follow our technicians during service
  • Move heavy or permanent yard fixtures
  • Be home during the service (though you're welcome to be)

First-Visit Preparation

For your first Dropp service, we recommend:

  1. Take Photos: Send pictures of your yard through your account to help us prepare
  2. Mark Boundaries: For unfenced yards, indicate the service area boundaries
  3. Note Problem Areas: Tell us where your pets most frequently relieve themselves
  4. Special Instructions: Add any special instructions or concerns to your account

Seasonal Considerations

Spring

  • Clear winter debris before service resumes (if paused for winter)
  • Note any new spring plantings you want us to be careful around

Summer

  • Keep grass at a manageable height for more effective cleaning
  • Consider our sanitization service to control bacteria growth in warmer months

Fall

  • Remove excessive leaf piles that might conceal waste
  • Note areas where fallen fruit or nuts might be mistaken for waste

Winter

  • Mark snow-covered areas where pets relieve themselves
  • Consider adjusting service frequency based on winter pet habits

Communication with Technicians

You can leave specific instructions for technicians:

  • Log in to your Dropp account
  • Go to "My Properties"
  • Add notes in the "Special Instructions" section
  • Update these instructions as needed for seasonal changes

Day-of-Service Reminders

On your scheduled service day:

  • Receive a reminder notification that service is scheduled
  • Secure pets before the scheduled window
  • Ensure yard access is available
  • No need to be present unless you prefer to be

After the Service

After each service:

  • Receive a service completion notification
  • View service photos in your account dashboard
  • Note any areas of concern for future visits
  • Provide feedback on the service quality
